Best Home and Smart Pilates Reformers of 2026
Pilates is low-impact, easy on the joints, and wonderful for core strength, balance, and posture, which is why it’s so popular with adults 40 and up. A home reformer pays for itself fast compared to studio classes. These are my researched picks, including a couple of ‘smart’ options that track your workouts.
These are researched picks, based on manufacturer specs, published reviews, and owner feedback. I haven’t personally tested them, and I’ll always say so clearly if I do.

Quick buying guide
- Reformer basics. A reformer is a sliding carriage on springs. You push and pull against the springs to build strength and flexibility.
- Foldable or full-size? Foldable reformers stand up against a wall when you’re done. Full-size studio reformers feel steadier but need a permanent spot.
- What’s ‘smart’? Smart Pilates gear tracks your reps and resistance or streams guided classes to a screen. It’s helpful for staying motivated, but the springs do the real work.
- Check the bundle. A box, jump board, and foot pad add a lot of exercises. Some reformers include them, and others charge extra.
- Mind the length. Most reformers are 7–8 feet long. Measure your room before you buy.
A quick health note: if you’re new to exercise, coming back after a break, or managing joint, heart, or back issues, check with your doctor or a physical therapist first. Start lighter than you think you need. Smart machines make it easy to add weight, and that’s exactly why it pays to go slow at first.
My pilates picks for 2026
#1 · Top smart pick
LIT Method Strength Machine
$1,399 at LIT Method (regular $2,149)
An all-in-one machine that works as a rower, a Pilates-style reformer, and a strength trainer, and it tracks your reps and resistance as you go. It rolls on wheels and stores upright, which is great for smaller homes.
✓ What I like
- Three workouts in one machine
- Tracks your metrics
- Stores vertically and includes free US shipping
! Watch out for
- Not a traditional spring reformer, so it feels different from studio Pilates
- Classes need a separate membership
- Less padding than a studio reformer
#2 · Best smart reformer
PersonalHour Janet Elite 2.0 with 27″ Smart Screen
$2,734 at PersonalHour
A real spring reformer from an Ohio-based brand, bundled with a 27-inch smart screen on a rolling stand so you can follow guided reformer classes at home. The box, jump board, and foot pads are included.
✓ What I like
- Traditional spring reformer feel
- Large smart screen for guided classes
- Full accessory bundle included and ships from Ohio
! Watch out for
- Highest price of my picks

#3 · Best value reformer
PersonalHour Zous Pro Foldable Reformer
$1,516 at PersonalHour (Chocolate; other colors $1,549)
A foldable reformer that comes as a complete bundle, so you have everything you need from day one. It’s a solid choice if you want real reformer Pilates without the smart-screen price.
✓ What I like
- Complete bundle with no add-ons needed
- Folds to save space
- In-stock colors ship from Ohio
! Watch out for
- No built-in screen. Use a tablet or TV for classes
- Still needs a long open area to use
- Custom colors take longer to ship
#4 · Budget smart option
LIT AXIS Smart Resistance System
$199 at LIT Method
A portable smart resistance system that tracks your workout from the palm of your hand, with no charging needed. It isn’t a reformer, but it’s a very affordable way to try app-guided Pilates and strength at home.
✓ What I like
- Very affordable
- No electricity or charging needed
- Works with 350+ guided exercises
! Watch out for
- Not a reformer
- App membership is extra
- Best as an add-on, not a full home gym
